Like walking and the outdoors but want to get more out of every walk? ….

Brief History

In the 1930s super fit competitive cross country skiers in Finland started to use poles in their off season training when there was no snow – they soon realised that this was giving them a massive advantage and that the technique was a perfect training aid that kept their heart and lungs in top condition and ensured upper and lower body muscles remained in top shape.

The sport was brought to the UK in 2000 and there are now over 10 millions Nordic Walkers worldwide, who all recognise the benefits of this fabulous outdoor sport.

In a nutshell the benefits are as follows

  • It’s super sociable & you find new walks & new acquaintances.

  • Nordic walking helps to improve cardio-respiratory fitness

  • Nordic walking provides additional benefits in upper-body muscular strength compared to conventional walking.

  • Nordic walking is an effective and efficient mode of exercise to improve overall fitness.

I qualified as a Nordic Walking Instruction through Nordic Walking UK, but now am an independent instructor. If you haven’t been Nordic walking before please feel free to book a walk to see if you enjoy it & you can borrow poles from me. If you enjoy it then you’ll need a 90 minute session with me to learn the techniques, charged at my PT rates.
